casual productive tuesday + arian's slug story

 Today is Tuesday and here I am wrapping up how the day went. It was fairly uneventful I would say. 

 - Woke up at like 7:50 AM and got ready. I literally stopped telling myself to pull up to this class on time because there really is no need to and it feels so good to press that snooze button

 - And so I went to my 8 AM class until 9:35 AM. I put in one earbud and litearlly finished my reading reflection due on Thursday during class which felt super satisfying. Literally that class is so soothing sometimes to do work because its just kids yapping making a nice environment for me to do work

 - Then I went back to my room and did some cubing until around 10:50 AM

 - Then I left at 10:50 AM cuz Jackson was coming back today at 11:20 AM and I don't wanna deal with his mom being in the room lol so I guess that means a very early lunch for me.

 - After lunch I took a bike down to McHenry library. At this point it was like 12:00 PM. I stayed at the library for 2 hours where I wrote this blog post: https://cavs4tw.blogspot.com/2023/11/the-tsar-introduction.html

 - I also played some geoguessr and watched some YouTube and made some final revisions on my essay so I can take it to tutoring

 - Then at 2 PM I went to tutoring in the academic resources center like I have every week on Tuesday and it was pretty good. Tbh I don't rly need it at this point but it is good motivation I guess to get it done early and also to take advantage of these free services I guess

 - After tutoring it was 3 PM and I walked right back to the library and sat in the same spot lol

 - Here I watched a bit of YouTube and actually felt a bit demotivated. I remember not wanting to do any work because tbh nothing was due soon and I just felt like procrastinating. But then like I realized I was tripping and got to work and reviewed Monday's lecture and finished 2/3 problems in this week's math homework packet. That felt super satisfying having finished 2/3 of the homework. 

 - And yeah I realized that I should just set goals every time I go to the library on what I want to complete before I leave the library. And also use geoguessr to reward myself instead of heading to it first-thing, which I realized like last week, and has been a gamechanger.

 - After library it was like 6:45 PM so I walked back to the dorm and then the MP to watch slug stories. All of us in our core classes had to write a slug story which is basically like a life story with like a lesson or somethign and pretty much everyone just copy pasted their common app essay💀. I thought I was smart for doing it but everyone did it lmao

 - Anyway if you wanted you could submit yours to present at the biweekly plenarys, and Arian's teacher was hard urging him to submit his because his professor really liked it, and so he did submit it. And then jackson saw he submitted and decided to submit his on cold showers for whatever reason which is the most unserious thing ever. Literally he just wanted to present his story to be brave or something i dont even know its so sad but then his got rejected somehow LOL i didnt EVEN KNOW THEY REJECTED SLUG STORIES thats actually hilarious. Otherwise we would've had to take notes on people's mental health stories and stuff and then next up jackson would pull up talking about cold showers

 - Ok anyway the slug stories were good but a bit boring. There was one about like therapy, then one about speech and debate and confidence, then one about like pakistan culture and clothing or somethign, and then like seeking help or something i dont even know. They were good but Arian went last and his was ACTUALLY RLY GOOD. I really liked the message, it was about how his family was getting a visa to go to America. His dad got some work visa or something and already went to America for a couple months. This was in 2017 when he was like 12 or something, and so him, his sister, and his mom went to Turkey to apply for a visa but then they rejected him after barely hearing their story in the interview. So then they went to Armenia in Yerevan and this was a super intense moment because if they didn't get the visa here, they legit wouldn't be able to go to America. That's honestly really crazy. Long story short they end up getting it and he moves to America and learns a new language and everything, its a really good story and I loved the message. And he just talked about how everyone hsould be grateful here in America because people all around the world would sacrifice so much to get here.

 - Ok so I forgot to mention that in between the plenary me and Austin went to go to the bathroom but the door went to the bathroom in the dining hall so we literally jsut got into the dining hall without having to swipe and spend $12 slug points, so we easily just ate dinner there. Easy meal, the meal was really mid tho, but its free so it's alright. If I had to swipe in that dining hall just to eat this food man that would be SAD, good thing we cheesed it

 - But anyway after the planery and task overlapping dinner in between, I just cubed for a while and did my planery reflection and watched the warriors kings game (which was insane) and some other work and that was pretty much it. Right now it's 12:10 AM and I'm gonna sleep soon. Good night!
